Obituary

Cook, James Ray, 80, was called home October 4, 2017, at his residence.
He was born to Edgar and Ola Mae (Palmer) Cook October 7, 1936 in Shelby Co., KY.
James was a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran, he retired from Hobart Mfg. in 1987 after many years of service, and was an avid UK fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his foster mother, Lettie Yates; a daughter, Patricia Cook; and brothers, Kenneth Lester, Jessie “Boots,” and William Cook.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Geraldine (Young) Cook; his daughters, Cynthia Cook, and Beverly Garrow (Ronald); a granddaughter, Amber Baskett (Matthew); and two great-grandchildren, Bryce and Brady Baskett; and a sister, Margie Johnson a sister-in-law, Ruby Cook, brother in law Jerry Young (Sandy), several nieces and nephews, and long time friend, Gloria Frederick.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1:00 PM at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway; burial is in Bethany Cemetery.
Visitation is Sunday 4:00-8:00 PM. at the funeral home.
