Our mother, Isabelle Harper, died Monday, October 2, 2017 the week of her 88th birthday. She passed away in her home that she loved with family by her side.
Mom was born in South Dakota to Francesca and Theodore Lucero who have both preceded her in death along with her siblings and daughter-in-law Elizabeth.
She was a long time resident of Ventura and raised her children here; all went on to be successful professionals.
Isabelle is survived by her children: Ronald Harper(Elizabeth), Linda Lamb(Bert), Theresa Marvel(Tom), Pamela Givens(Greg), Rebecca Harper, Cynthia Harper, and Joseph Harper(Suzanne). She was Granny to 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Isabelle was a dedicated Mother and volunteer. Even while raising her children, she was a hot-lunch-cupcake-making-hamburger-cooking Mom at school, volunteer at church, and team Mom. She was the Honoree for Angels of Charity in 2014 for the Layette Program. Additionally, she was honored by St. Bonaventure High School for her years of dedicated service.
Mom loved cooking, gardening, and feeding people. Her pies were legendary and will always be remembered but never quite duplicated. Also, her jams, jellies, and fruit preserves won Blue ribbons at our county fair.
Mom, Grandmother, and Granny taught us all that faith, hard work, and kindness were the keys to Success. Mom lived a beautiful faith filled life and now A Perfect Eternity in the arms of the Lord.
The Rosary, Mom's favorite prayer, will be recited on Sunday, October 8 at 5:30pm JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 East Main Street, Ventura. Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 9 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 3175 Telegraph Rd, Ventura.
Burial will be at Santa Clara Cemetery, 2370 N "H" Street, Oxnard. In lieu of flowers, you may consider planting a pink flower in your garden or making a memorial donation to ARC of Ventura County, Ventura County Life Centers, or The Sisters of St. Catherine by the Sea in Ventura.
