Obituary

Robert F. “Bob” Fahey age 90, of Franklin, died peacefully Tuesday October 3, at St Camillus Health Center in Whitinsville, MA. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy T. "Dotty" (Fagan) Fahey.

Bob was born in Boston and resided in the Hyde Park section of the city. He was a 1945 graduate of Boston College High School. Bob received a Psychology/Counseling degree from Boston College and a Master’s degree in Education from Boston University. He worked for the City of Boston as a school adjustment counselor and classroom teacher for 14 years and in 1965 joined the Town of Framingham school department where he served as an elementary and middle school teacher until his retirement in 1986.

Soon after his retirement from teaching Bob was employed as an Outreach Coordinator for Elder Services in the Town of Franklin. In 2001 he was appointed the Veterans’ Agent for the Town of Franklin. He was instrumental in obtaining needed services and benefits for many of the town’s military veterans. He worked tirelessly in this position until his retirement in 2015.

Bob is survived by his three sons: Rob Fahey and his late wife, Fran of Sagamore Beach, Tim and his wife, Paula of Franklin, Steve and his late wife, Debbie of New Haven, CT, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two brothers, Larry Fahey of Milton and Richard Fahey of Weymouth. He also has many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Monday, Oct. 9 at 10:15 A.M. from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St. Franklin with a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Church Sq., Franklin at 11 A.M.

Internment with military honors will follow in the parish cemetery.

Calling hours are Sunday, Oct. 8 from 3-7 P.M.
