Obituary

Traci Anne Shelton, affectionately known as “Shirley,” 46, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 2, 2017 at her home in Martinez, GA.

She was born April 27, 1971 in Marion, IN. A graduate of Nashua High School, Traci joined the US Army serving with the Military Police Corps. She was deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm/Shield and was stationed in many different countries including Egypt, Cuba, and Guatemala. On May 30, 1998, Traci married her husband, Steve Shelton, in Rockingham, NC. She was a Jill of all trades, crafts, DIY projects and never backed down from a challenge. Her competitive spirit showed in her love for coaching field hockey, playing softball, and cheering on the Red Sox and Patriots. Traci was a devoted mother and could be found volunteering in the classroom, at gymnastics meets, or making costumes for school plays. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with family at a crazy 4th of July celebration in Southport, NC, or just relaxing in York Beach, ME.

Traci is survived by her husband, Steve Shelton; daughter, Emily Shelton; mother, Margret Ryan; sister, Denise Hartley, her husband Russell, and their respective sons, Michael Simpson and Nicholas Hartley; brother, Joseph Ryan, his wife Dawn, and their children, Joseph and Jacob; stepson, Cliff Shelton; stepdaughter, Heather S. Brookes, her husband Miles, and their children, Egan and Elsie and numerous other family members.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel,337 N. Belair Rd., Evans, GA 30809, with Visitation beginning at 2:00 PM. Visiting hours will also be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH 03053. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 10:00 AM, at First Parish Cemetery, 180 York Street, York, ME, 03903.

In lieu of flowers and donations, the family requests for everyone to honor Traci’s memory with a good deed, by taking juice, water, chicken biscuits, etc. to your local oncology center.
