Sarah Santos (Lobo) Spinola, 84, of New Bedford died October 3, 2017 at home after a long illness.
She was the wife of Joao Spinola.
Born in Fogo, Cape Verde, the daughter of the late Eduardo Santos Lobo and Camila Jose (Barbosa) Lobo, she moved to New Bedford in 2003.
Survivors include her husband; 2 sons, Camilo Santos Lobo Spinola and his wife Maria of Cape Verde and Manuel Antonio Santos Lobo Spinola of New Bedford; 5 daughters, Maria "Zinha" Alves and her husband Jose, Maria Isabel Dosouto and her husband Jose, Maria Fatima Mendes and her husband Lionel, and Louisa "Caca" Tavares and her husband Raimundo, all of New Bedford, Maria "Djudju" DePina and her husband Gabriel of Roxbury; a brother, Eduardo Santos Lobo, Jr. of Brockton; 2 sisters, Adelina "Bunina" Teixeira of New Bedford and Maria de Fatima Santos of Monte Largo Fogo, Cape Verde; 25 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was the grandmother of the late Carlos Alexander Dosouto.
Her Funeral will be held on Friday, October 6th at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, October 5th from 4-8 PM.
