Obituary

Albino Santos, 88, of Dartmouth died on October 1, 2017 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home after a period of declining health.
He was the loving husband of Maria L. "Delores" (Ferreira) Santos with whom he shared 66 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Manuel and Francisca (Bento) Santos, he lived in Dartmouth most of his life. He was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High school, class of 1947.
He was a member of the National Guard, 211 Field Artillery Battalion, Battery A for 13 years before being activated into the U.S. Army during the Berlin Crisis in 1961.
Al began his furniture career in 1955, and after many years he finally reached his goal and in 1988 founded Regal House Furniture with his wife Delores, daughter Debra and son Steven. He loved the furniture business, but most of all, he loved his family, first and foremost. He was a friend to people in need no matter how busy he was. Being a humble person he never looked for recognition. He was especially caring to the elderly and children.
His family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home for their loving care.
He was a member of Howland Chapter National Artillery and a former member of Prince Henry Society and St. John's Couples Club.
Survivors include his beloved wife; his daughter, Debra Holden and her husband Bruce of Rochester; 2 sons, Thomas Santos and his companion Monika of Melrose and David Santos and his wife Ellen of Vermont; his daughter-in-law, Jill Santos of Rochester; 8 grandchildren, Derek Holden, Nicole Perrault, Paige Santos, Brooke Santos, Brent Santos, Nicholas Santos, Zachary Santos and Olivia Santos; 4 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Steven Santos and the brother of the late Alice Torres and Silvino Santos.
His Funeral will be held on Saturday, October 7th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church at 10 AM. Visiting hours will be on Friday, October 6th from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Vincent dePaul Society, c/o St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth, MA 02747.
