Richard F. “Dick” Hurd, 80, of Franklin died October 1 in his home surrounded by his devoted family. He was the husband of Marcia (Hartshorn) for the past 29 years. He was the also the husband of the late Alberta (Pedersen) Hurd.
Born in Norwood, August 24,1937, the son of the late Everett and Marion (Reardon) Hurd, Mr. Hurd was raised in Walpole and has lived in Franklin for the past 57 years.
Dick was a graduate of Walpole High School. He had been a plant manager at the General Display Company in Medway for his entire career.
Dick was a fan of NASCAR and the Red Sox.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Robin LaRosa and her husband Scott of Franklin, Susan Healy and her husband Mark of Franklin, Tina Masinda and her husband Ronald of Norfolk and Lori Berdos and her husband Peter of Bellingham.
He is also the step father of Richard Follis of Milford, David Follis and his wife Donna of Danielson, CT and Mark Follis of Milford.
Dick is also survived by his sister Nancy Hurd of Walpole and was the grandfather of 15 and great-grandfather of 6.
Dick leaves numerous friends including his trusted sidekick George Bullen.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, October 5 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin at 9:15 followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church at 10:00. Burial will in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
