James Murrell Arrington, Sr., 76, of Tifton, Georgia, died Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, in Albany, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM, Sunday, October 1, 2017, at Frank Primitive Baptist Church, in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Elder Tom Deal, Elder Edward McIntyre and Steve Arrington officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitley Cemetery, in Irwin County. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services.
Mr. Arrington was born April 5, 1941, in Cook County, Georgia, to the late Silas & Mamie Carr Arrington. He served his country honorably in the United States Army for eight years. Mr. Arrington worked for J. P Stevens and later the City of Tifton as a maintenance technician in the waste water treatment department. Mr. Arrington was a member of Tifton Primitive Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Katie Royal Arrington of Tifton; a son, Junior Arrington of Tifton; grandchildren: Coral Arrington and Cassie Arrington, both of Tifton and a brother, Russell Arrington of Hinesville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Hulon Arrington and Wayne Arrington; and three sisters: Eloise Smith, Mildred Davis and Mary E. Jones.
