GORHAM- Joyce T. Kennie, age 79, passed away on Sept. 27, 2017 at her home after a brief battle with cancer, with her family at her side.
She was born in Westbrook on Feb. 10, 1938, a daughter of the late Theodore and Emma (Gatchell) Ford.
She married Malcolm G. Kennie Sr. on July 31, 1955.
She retired Sylvania – GTE after 28 years of service. In her retirement, she worked for Barrows Greenhouse in Gorham.
Joyce enjoyed her time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joyce was an avid gardener with many flower and vegetable gardens.
She is predeceased by a grandson- Justin Kennie who passed away in 2008; and her husband Malcolm G. Kennie Sr. in 1992.
Joyce is survived by her children- Deborah Ricker and her husband Timothy, Malcolm G. Kennie Jr., Brenda Kennie – Roberge, Bethany Kennie, John Kennie and his wife Jeanne, Karen Kennie, Theodore Kennie and his wife Lisa, Jerry Kennie and his wife Melissa, Philip Kennie, Thomas Kennie and his wife Kimberley, and Cynthia Galo and her husband Walter; sister- Reta Foote; brother- John Ford and his wife Linda; eighteen grandchildren; and twenty-three great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday Oct. 2, from 11 – 1 PM, followed by a 1 PM funeral service at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton.
