Michael G. LaPensee of Foxboro, Worcester and Westborough died Sept.19 after an extended hospitalization at U Mass Medical Center .
He was predeceased by his mother and father, Mary E and Ronald C. LaPensee. He is survived by his loving and devoted sister, Anne Marie (Annie) and her partner, Sukie Kindwall of Conway, MA. ; his brother Ron of Arizona and his brother John of Massachusetts. He also leaves a wide circle of close friends both in and outside the deaf community.
Michael grew up in Foxboro and attended Foxboro Public Schools. He graduated with a BA from Curry College and an M.A. from the University of Arizona. He also attended Gallaudet University. He was active in the Adult Late Deafness Association (ALDA) of Massachusetts and had an active career in vocational rehab services. He worked in York, PA. for ten years as a deaf services counselor.
Michael was an advocate for anyone with special needs. In his memory please make a donation to: The Learning Center for the Deaf at 848 Central St. Framingham, MA 01701 or perform a random act of kindness for someone in need.
Michael will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his generosity and sweet disposition. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a future date.
The family extends their appreciation and sincerest thanks to the nursing and medical staff on 3 West at U Mass. Medical Center in Worcester as well as special thanks to the staff of the department of Dermatology. All were professional, kind, capable and caring.
