Born November 14, 1941 in Worth County, Mrs. Arrington was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Gunn and Ruby May Sumner Gunn, both of Omega, both deceased, and wife of Roy Russell Arrington of Tifton. She was the mother of four and lifelong child of God. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Joanne Lott of Duluth and Linda Spires of Omega; and one brother, Ray Vickers of Omega.
Betty’s relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ was paramount in her life and she used her gift as an anointed piano player to bless the Lord and the lives of others through praise and worship for the body of Christ. She had the gift of sharing the gospel through music and was provided limitless opportunities by the Lord to use this gift to His glory throughout the world. While she wrote music throughout her life, in her later years, she became a published songwriter of numerous convention songs. She was blessed with an amazing and loving husband who supported her ministry wholeheartedly. Together, they had four children, Debbie, Deena, Rusty and Andy, who were always very near and dear to her heart. Betty’s number one priority was to ensure that her children not only knew Jesus as their Lord and Savior, but that they also had a personal relationship with Him. She often remarked that she prayed for each child and grandchild by name every day, as well as her great-grandchildren.
Betty touched the lives of countless people, not only through music, but also through her outgoing personality, as it was clearly evident that she never met a stranger. She was loved by many and shared the gospel freely with everyone that she encountered. Heaven has gained a mighty warrior who fought the good fight of faith, finished the race strong and has now gained her reward by entering into His presence. She will be in the hearts and minds of those nearest to her and will be truly missed. The world has become a little quieter with her absence.
Mrs. Arrington is survived by her husband, Roy Russell Arrington; a daughter, Debbie Smith and her husband, Steve of Athens; a daughter, Deena Wallingford and her husband, Jeff of Vero Beach, Florida; a son, Rusty Arrington and his wife, Wendi of Graniteville, South Carolina; a son, Andy Arrington and his wife, Denise of Midway; and a brother, Larry Gunn and his wife, Barbara of Omega. Betty was the grandmother of ten; Elliott Smith, Bryson Smith, Dale Hewett, Ashley Hewett, Lacey Henley, Haley Wallingford, Corey Arrington., Caleb Arrington, Chelsea Dillard and Andie Arrington; and the great-grandmother of four named Zoe Rae Robinson, Bea Nicole Arrington, Chandler Denise Dillard and Savannah Elliott Smith.
