Velma K. Burdette, 85, of Ty Ty passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Ring officiating. Miss Burdette will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 28, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Salem Baptist Church.
The deacons of Salem Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Born May 16, 1932 in Turner County, Miss Burdette was the daughter of the late Collie Anderson Burdette, Sr. and Barbara Maybelle Beard Burdette. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Henry and Emogene Burdette, Elmer and Janette Burdette, Oren Burdette and Grady and Lula Burdette; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Leona and C. J. Ireland, Esther Engebretsen and Emma Lou Burdette; and two nephews, Craig Burdette and Eugene Beasley. She was a homemaker and a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Miss Burdette is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Cleo and Eldridge Beasley of Ty Ty; one brother and sister-in-law, C. A. and Hortense Burdette of Sycamore; a sister-in-law, Betty Burdette of Ty Ty; and many loving nieces and nephews.
