CHICOPEE – Paul L. Forgette, Sr., 75, of Chicopee was called safely home on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. He passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on March 15, 1942, a beloved son of the late Joseph A. and Albertine (Chouinard) Forget. He was raised in the Aldenville and Fairview sections of Chicopee and later lived in Agawam and Ludlow before returning to Chicopee. He served his country in the United States Army and attained the rank of Private First Class. He was last employed as a manager at the former Parson’s Paper Mill in Holyoke. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Papermakers, the Chicopee Lodge of Elks 1849, the Moose Family Center 1849 and the Tiger’s Athletic Club in Chicopee Falls. He enjoyed playing cards at the Elks Lodge, was an avid poker player and enjoyed going to the casino. During his leisure time, he enjoyed boogie boarding at the beach and walking his dog, Patches. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, Gail P. Hebert who was called home on October 28, 2009. They were married on September 14, 1963 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 46 years of happiness together. He leaves his two loving children, Paul L. Forgette, Jr. and his wife, Caroline Protono, of West Springfield and Lori-Ann Plumador and her husband, John Plumador, Jr., of Agawam; his three cherished grandchildren, Max Forgette and Sarah and Matthew Plumador; his dear brother-in-law, Roger Perreault of Venice, FL; his dear companion, Patricia “Pat” Berwaldt of Chicopee; her daughter, Jessica Duga and her husband, Jeffrey, and their two sons, Jack and Jacob; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended members of the Forgette, Forget and Chouinard families. Besides his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his dear sister, Lucille Perreault and his brother, Conrad Forget. His relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Committal Service with United States Army Military Honors will be private for his family at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam.
