Obituary

WEBSTER - Theresa M. “Terri” Martin, 55, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at home. Born in Worcester, MA she was the beloved daughter of the late Irene (Ropiak) Leyda.

She leaves her sister, Lucille A. Leyda of Simi Valley, CA; an uncle, Stanley Ropiak of Sturbridge, MA; an aunt, Nancy (Ropiak) Naas of Holden, MA; her cousin and close friend, Doreen Jameson of North Grosvenordale, CT; and many cousins and dear friends. As well as her adored mother Irene, she was also predeceased by an aunt, Gladys (Ropiak) DiPasquale of St. Petersburg, FL and by an uncle, Edward Ropiak of Grafton, MA.

Terri resided in the surrounding area for many years before moving to Webster, MA where she was employed by Mapfre Insurance as a mail clerk for more than fifteen years.

Terri enjoyed many things but the beauty of the outdoors and the kind, loving nature of animals were by far her favorites. She travelled to the seashore of Cape Cod at least once a year if not several times whenever possible. She was always “amazed” by the beauty of the White Mountains of New Hampshire, where she frequently visited the Flume Gorge and The Old Man of the Mountain at Franconia Notch State Park. She cried in 2003 when the granite profile of The Old Man’s face crumbled and The Old Man was no more. She found simple pleasures locally, visiting the Deer Forest at Southwick Zoo and Hodges Village Dam in Oxford, MA where she and her beloved mother walked often. Her mom, even when in pain, would insist on walking the entire distance. It was this fighting spirit that Terri loved about her mom and learned from her. Terri also enjoyed the architecture and aesthetic beauty and design of Mohegan Sun Casino, watching movies, dining out and candles.
She adored all her pets that she shared her life with, especially her remaining cats, Miss Tina and Goddess Isis.

Terri was a spirited, passionate and whimsical lady who truly appreciated all the little things in life along with the grand. She loved to use the word “amazing” when speaking of anything or anyone she found beauty in. She accepted and persevered through many hardships and was stronger than most. She truly appreciated and loved those who treated her with kindness, respect, sincerity and a helping hand as she well deserved all of these things. She was admired by many, especially those closest to her.

A beautiful woman inside and out, she was a wonderful, devoted and generous daughter, sister and friend who will be missed tremendously. We are truly blessed to have had her “AMAZING” spirit touch and change our lives forever… We love and miss you, Terri Martin.
