Joan Doyle, age 81, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Peter J. Doyle with whom she shared more than 50 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Jennie (Kos) Laborde – Bouchard of Manchester, NH and the late William Laborde of Salem. She was a graduate of Salem High School , Class of 1954. She worked as a secretary of the Nursing Program at Salem State College for both the Graduate Nursing Program and the Undergraduate Division until her retirement.
Joan stayed home to raise her family before returning to the work force. She was a strong woman whose sense of family outweighed anything. She had many hobbies including horseback riding, tennis, bowling and painting. She enjoyed trips to Foxwoods and playing cards with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter Kim Erps and her husband Ralph of Salem, her four sons, John Doyle, David Doyle, Patrick Doyle & Thomas Doyle and his wife Jessica, all of Salem. Joan is also survived by three grandchildren, Timothy Erps of Cambridge, and Ethan Doyle & Jack Doyle of Salem. She was predeceased by her stepfather, Laurier Bouchard of Salem.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 9:00 AM at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [ Route 114 / 1-A ] Salem, to be followed by her Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Blvd, Salem at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours in the funeral home are on Friday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Peter J.
