Middleboro – John P. Dowd, Jr. 66 formerly a long time resident of Whitman died unexpectedly on September 12th
Born in Boston and raised in Whitman, he was the son of the late John and Marie (Power) Dowd and a graduate of Southeastern Vocational Technical High School, Class of 1969.
After graduation, John had used his vocational training and skills working several years as a cabinet maker, and prior to his retirement, had worked many years as a pattern maker for the Lebaron Foundry of Brockton.
His passion was Karate, which he began in the 1970’s and through hard work and discipline he had achieved an Eighth Degree Black Belt in Uechi Ryu Karate. Following this passion, he had even traveled to Okinawa for further training.
He is survived by his sister Maureen (Dowd) (Bezanson) Pistorio and her husband John of Rockland and his brothers Mark Dowd of Attleboro and Steve Dowd of Whitman. He is also survived by his nephew Jeffrey Bezanson of Dudley and his niece Sara (Bezanson) Wayman of Weymouth.
