Obituary

David Shawn Clark, 53, of Oberjosbach, Hessen, Germany passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017. A memorial service will be held for Shawn at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Mr. Clark was laid to rest earlier this week in his beloved Pennsylvania. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 30, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Born August 21, 1964 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Mr. Clark was the son of the late, David Fletcher and Joan Lorraine Eichenlaub Clark. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Pattie G. Clark; and one brother, James F. Clark. Shawn, or David as he was known to his co-worker was extremely fond of Pennsylvania. It reminded him of his childhood, growing up with his family. He and his wife, Crystal, were both looking forward to building their dream retirement home there together.

Shawn began working for the Department of the Army in February 2017. He was assigned to 2nd Theater Signal Brigade in Wiesbaden, Germany as a Brigade Budget Officer. Prior to serving in Germany, he had a lengthy Federal Service career dating back to 1988, the majority of that time spent serving at Robbins Air Force Base in Warner Robins. Shawn served as a humble, yet a vital member of the 2nd Theater Signal Brigade S8 Team. His commendations, awards and accomplishments are too numerous to mention.

When Shawn met Crystal, they both knew they had found loves of their lives. Together, they brought such love to the world that those in their presence could not help but notice. Crystal was Shawn’s true soulmate. He loved her with all that was within him. Speaking of her beloved, Crystal shared that they both had waited a lifetime for each other.

Spending time traveling with Crystal was what made Shawn happiest. He also loved exploring European historical sites, reading credible biographies and purchasing antiques. But, more than anything, Shawn loved doing just about anything with Crystal. He was a simple, quiet man who prioritized things in three categories: faith, family and life. Shawn will be remembered for many things, but mostly remembered as a husband who loved his wife, Crystal, with every ounce of himself. He was loved by her and, in return, by many others around the world who had the privilege and pleasure of knowing him.

Mr. Clark is survived by the love of his life, Crystal Helena Trux Clark of Hyder, Alaska, who he married on April 7, 2012 in Savannah; step-daughter and son-in-law, Ashley Marie and Kevin House of Warner Robins; step-daughter, Crystal Rose-Ann Grammer of Jacksonville, North Carolina; sister and brother-in-law, Renee and Paul Borboa of Jacksonville, Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Dwayne and Ginger Clark of Moultrie; brother, Logan Clark of Albany; grandchildren, Braden, Noah, Kayla and Alyssa Houser of Warner Robins, Hannah, Madison and Alexis Grammer of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Lily Allen of Ashville, North Carolina; niece and nephew-in-law, Rebecca and Thomas Richter of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina; niece, Savannah Clark of Moultrie; and great-nieces, Hannah and Isabella Richter; and great-nephew Jakob Richter, all of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina.
