James “Alton” Spillers, Sr., 69, of Ty Ty passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Rodney Owens officiating. Mr. Spillers will be laid to rest at Salem Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 20, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Jacob Linbarger, Joseph Johnson, Seth Spillers, David Walters Sr., Jo Haire, David Walters Jr. and Samantha Linbarger will serve as pallbearers.
Born January 26, 1948 in Tift County, Mr. Spillers was the son of the late James Iverson Spillers and Ruby Frazier Spillers. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Elaine Haire Spillers; and one sister. He retired from Tifton Aluminum Company after 44 years of service and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty.
Mr. Spillers is survived by one son, James Alton Spillers, Jr. of Ty Ty; one daughter, Tabitha Elaine Spillers of Ty Ty; one brother, Jessie Lee Spillers of Putney; one sister, Geraldine Walters of Ty Ty; five grandchildren, Jacob Linbarger, Samantha Linbarger, Jasmine Linbarger, Beau Spillers and Seth Spillers; and two great-grandchildren, Kayden Linbarger and Maci Linbarger.
