Joseph H. "Joe" Reynolds, a 57 year resident of Medford and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at his home in Medford. He was 93 years old.
Joe was born in Boston on July 16, 1924, a son of the late Joseph P. Reynolds and Helen (Hegan) Reynolds. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from English High School in 1941. Joe furthered his education and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Naval Science from Tufts University in 1945. Joe enlisted into the United States Navy on April 8, 1943 and served his country faithfully and with courage during World War II. He was honorably discharged on August 13, 1946 with the rank of Ensign. Joe worked for John Hancock Insurance Company in Boston as Director of Underwriting and retired following 40 years of dedicated employment to the company. He enjoyed gardening, dancing, walking, the theatre and arts and his 33 cruises with his loving wife. Most important in Joe's life was his passion for his children and grandchildren and the quality times he was able to spend with each one of them.
Joe is the loving husband of 70 years to Regina T. "Reggie" (Burns) Reynolds. He is the caring father of Stephen Reynolds and his wife Laurie of Sudbury, Michael Reynolds and his wife Breda of Medford, Nancy Morin and her husband Rick of Waltham, Brian Reynolds of Medford and Jean Reynolds and her partner Julie Poulin of Melrose. He is the proud Papa to Julie and Keith Reynolds and Kylie and Nieve Morin and his great-granddaughter Ella Reynolds. He is the brother of Eleanor Cronin of Florida, Paul Reynolds of Florida and the late Rita Green and Larry Reynolds. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joe's Funeral on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. His visiting hours will be on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
