Athena "Tina" (Adamides) Demers of Bedford, NH, formerly of Newport, RI, passed away peacefully on Friday September 15, 2017. She was the wife of the late Norman L. Demers and Gerald Bishop.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Charles and Olga (Hatzis) Adamides, she lived in Newport for many years, before moving to New Hampshire two years ago to be closer to her family.
Mrs. Demers and her husband Norman owned and operated Newport Electric Motor Repair Service on Thames Street in Newport for many years until their retirement.
She is survived by her son, Norman L. Demers and his wife Donna of Merrimack, NH; her brother, John Querim of New York City; two grandchildren, Michael and Brianna Demers; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late William G. Bishop, and sister of the late Christos, Andrew, and Vassi Adamides, Pauline Costa, and Anastasia Menard.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday Sept. 23, 2017 at 9:30 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 186 Cross Rd., Dartmouth. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday Sept. 22, 2017 from 5-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
