Virginia Weaver Griffin, 93, of Tifton passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Legacy Village in Tifton. Her funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 17, 2017, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Roe and Dr. Greg Love officiating. Mrs. Griffin will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 17, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church.
Born May 8, 1924 in Irwin County, Mrs. Griffin was the daughter of the late Marion M. Weaver, Sr. and Eva M. Walker Weaver. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Marion M. Weaver, Jr. and Amos Weaver. She retired from the Citizens Bank of Tifton after 30 years of service. She was a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Tift Regional Medical Center and a member of the Business Professional Women’s Club. She was also an active member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Bible Learners Sunday school class.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Rita Griffin of Tifton; one brother and sister-in-law, John T. and Jean Weaver of Tifton; two sisters, Theatus W. Johnson and Myrtle W. Ross, both of Tifton; two grandchildren, Brett Griffin and wife, Laura and Kimberly Griffin; and two great-grandchildren, Ty Griffin and Knox Griffin.
The family would like to thank the staff at Legacy Village for their care and support of Mrs. Griffin.
