Michele Giso passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital on Tuesday night. He was 87. Born and raised in Anzano Di Puglia, Italy, he was the son of the late Pietro and Grazia (Contardi) Giso. He came to the United States with his family in 1969 and lived in Somerville, before settling in Medford. He was a hardworking man who provided the best he could for his family. He worked with Local 151, Laborers’ Union, until his retirement. He loved his family and was devoted to spending time with them and his many friends. He kept a beautiful and fruitful garden at his home and also loved to make wine every year. He was a member of the Madonna Di Anzano Society in Boston.
The beloved husband of Carmela (Pastore) Giso, he was a devoted father of Grace Giso-Gagliardi and her husband Frank Gagliardi of Lynnfield, Peter Giso of Medford, Joseph Michael Giso and his wife Ann Fernandes of Woburn, Carmine Giso and his wife Lisa of Chicago. Loving grandfather of Mark and Simon Gagliardi, Michele, Carmela, Angela, Michael, Allyson Grace, Jimmy and Carmine Giso. Dear brother of Antonio Giso of Australia, Saverio Giso of Italy and the late Frank and Laura Giso.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday September 18th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday, September 17, from 4 - 8. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Madonna di Anzano, Boston, Scholarship Fund in honor of Michele Giso, in care of Grace Giso, 23 Edward St., Medford, MA 02155
