Obituary

Laconia-Joyce L.G. Apfel, 82, of 286 Pleasant Street died Thursday afternoon, October 6, 2005 at Concord Hospital after a sudden illness.

Joyce was the daughter of the late Sol and Gertrude (Goodman) Grossman. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 22, 1923.

Trained as an educator at New York University, Joyce worked for many years as a home economics teacher, as well as a guidance counselor.

After moving to Laconia in 1969, Joyce worked as a guidance counselor at Belmont High School before starting her own real estate business, Apple Mountain Real Estate.

Joyce was active for many years in the Laconia Women’s Club, serving as club president, as well as the New Hampshire State District Chairwoman. She was an avid member of the local Toastmasters’ Club, and a former member of the Lakes Region Board of Realtors. She was also involved for many years in Temple B’nai Israel.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 44 years, George G. Apfel, one daughter, two sons, two grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Services were held at the Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home, 139 Church Street, Laconia, NH, on Sunday, October 9, 2005 at 11:00 am.
