James W. Wright, Jr.
Retired Truck Driver for Baker Commodities
TEWKSBURY: James W. Wright, Jr. age 88, a resident of Tewksbury for 54 years, passed away at home on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.
He was the beloved husband of Arlene M. (Babbin) Wright, with whom he would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 12, 2017.
Born in Boston on July 3, 1929, he was the son of the late James W. Wright, Sr. and the late Iva (Bracey) Wright.
Jim was raised in Brookline and attended Brookline schools.
On July 3, 1946, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. Jim was awarded the World War II Victory Medal for his active duty service.
Prior to his retirement, he worked for Baker Commodities Recycling Company in Billerica for over 15 years.
Jim was a former member of the Ebenezer Fuller Masonic Lodge in Brookline.
He enjoyed gardening, cooking, watching westerns on TV, and was a lover of animals.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Janine L. Gropp and her husband George of Nashua, NH, Earl W. Wright of Tewksbury, Doreen L. Moore and her husband Kevin of Sandown, NH, and James F. Wright and his fiancé, Carol Cyr Bernard of Dracut; seven grandchildren, Kevin Crosby and his wife Stephanie, David DeAngelis, Jay Crosby, Keith Moore, Erica Moore, Josh Gropp, and Holly Wright; two great grandchildren, Colton and Adlie Crosby; nephews, James and John O’Neil; and his niece, Carole O’Neil.
Jim was the brother of the late Beatrice O’Neil.
