Ellen McMurrain Young, 70 , of Tifton passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at her residence.
Born on June 19, 1947 in West Palm Beach, Florida to the late Thomas Jacob and Reba Whiddon McMurrain she was an accountant and a homemaker. She was also a member of Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church. Ellen was a loving mother and grandmother and life-long follower of Christ.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine Young of Tifton; step-son, James Charles (P. J.) Young, Jr. of Blue Ridge; sister, Wanda Lewis of Cordele; grandchildren, J. T. Young of Blue Ridge and Justin Young of Blue Ridge; great-grandchild, Everette Young of Blue Ridge. Several nieces and nephews as well as three aunts also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Jim Young, Sr., and a sister, Carolyn Highnote
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Tifton Primitive Baptist Church, 403 North Tift Avenue, with private interment to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until the hour of services Thursday at the church.
