Obituary

Viola D. (Zadroga) Ryder 89, of Millis, died Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the Medway Country Manor with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Patrick Thomas Ryder to whom she married in 1954 and who passed away in 2004.

Born in Clinton on September 18, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Anna (Marhefka) Zadroga. The youngest of four daughters, Mrs. Ryder grew up in Clinton and moved to Millis where she has resided since 1958.

Before her retirement in 1991, she worked at the Medfield State Hospital for 33 years.

Mrs. Ryder enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and listening to Irish and Polish music. She loved her pets and also loved to cook Polish dishes for her family. She cherished her grandchildren and was very proud of all their achievements.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas W. Ryder of New Hampshire and John P. Ryder and his wife Jackie of Medway, four grandchildren, Gregory, John Allan, Morgan and Melissa Ryder, three nephews, Richard Wunschel, Jack Shea and Michael Sowa and one niece Geri Sargent.

She was the sister of the late Annie Wunschel, Mary Shea and Rose Sowa.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Thursday, September 14 at 9:15 a.m. from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Lancaster.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 – 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to St. Joseph Church, P.O. Box 557, Medway, MA 02053.

A memorial reception will be hosted by the family at a later date.
