Manuel S. Spencer, Sr., 102, of Taunton, formerly of Park St., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 9th.
He was the husband of the late Maria C. (Rodrigues) Spencer.
Born in Fogo, Cape Verde, son of the late Joao and Maria (Santos) Spencer. Manuel retired from Texas Instruments and was a member of the St. John’s Club in Carver.
Survivors include his children, Hildo Spencer of Taunton, Antonio Spencer (wife Idalina) of Taunton, Manuel Spencer, Jr. (wife Maria) of Taunton, Luis Spencer (wife - Eva Kay) of Carver, John Spencer (wife - Margaret) of Plympton, Luisa Barros (husband - Miguel) of Taunton and Maria Rosa (husband - Augusto) of Stoughton; Daughter-in-law, Maria "Macoia" Spencer of Raynham; siblings, John Spencer of New Bedford and Louise Silva of Taunton; grandchildren, Jennifer Spencer, Jacqueline Carter, Nunu Spencer, Louise Spencer, Stephanie Spencer, Lucinda Spencer, Armando Spencer, Mark Spencer, Bryan Spencer, Lindsey Spencer, Brycen Spencer, Natalie Spencer, Caroline Spencer, Nicholas Spencer, Casey Spencer, Courtney Spencer, Vanessa Mendes, Tony Mendes, Alison Rosa, Lisa Howe, Augusto Rosa, Emmanuel Barros, Luis Barros and Jessica Barros;; many great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was also father of the late Mario Spencer and brother of the late Laura Spencer.
Manuel’s funeral will be held on Thursday, September 14th, 2017 at 9:00am from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Saint Anthony Church, School Street.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visiting hours at Silva Funeral home on Wednesday, September 13th from 5-8pm.
