Obituary

Edward Eugene Ring, 92, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, September 10, 2017, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Rex Johnson and the Rev. Ricky Kellum officiating. Interment will follow in Brushy Creek Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mr. Ring was born July 7, 1925, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Johnny Ring and the late Annie Tucker Ring Duggan. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked as a quiller at the Fitzgerald Cotton Mill and also farmed. He also worked at Irwin Manufacturing in Ocilla. He was an avid fisherman and was of the Pentecostal faith. He attended CFI.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Laverne Ring of Fitzgerald; children: Vivian & Johnny Rathburn of Abbeville, Geraldine Stringer of Fitzgerald, and Felton Ring of Fitzgerald; step-children: Sandra Ann Butler of Americus, Sherrie Butler of Cordele, and Wanda Gay Hyleman of Dawson; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; three brothers: Monroe & Shirley Ring of Fitzgerald, Milton & Willene Ring of Sumner, and Herbert Ring of Jacksonville, FL; and three sisters, Evone White of Marietta, Melvina & Nolan Brewer of Lizella and Juanita Wright of Liberty, SC as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Audrey B. Ring; a son, Robert Daniel Ring; a step-son, James Calvin Massey; and two brothers: Donald Ring and Perry Ring.
