On September 7, 2017, Rose Elice (McDonald) Viar passed away peacefully at the Morton Hospital in Taunton following a brief illness. Rose was the wife of the late Malcolm P. Viar. Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late George J. McDonald & Lucretia (Brown) Porter. Rose had resided in Taunton since 1987 and was formerly of Westwood. Educated in the Boston and Bridgewater schools. Rose enjoyed reading, gardening, her family and spending time with children. She was fondly known as "Grammy Rose" by many. Rose is survived by her loving children, William C. Viar of Taunton, Edward L. Viar and his wife Laurie of Braintree, Mary A. Viar of Taunton, Robert Viar of Taunton and the late Martha Billings, her grandchildren, Amanda Stonis, Suki Donatski, Elizabeth Viar and her great grandchildren, Leah Stonis, Jeremy Levesque Jr. and the late Ashley Levesque. Rose was also the last of three siblings and leaves several nieces and nephews. A funeral home service will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Tuesday, September 12th at 11 am. Relatives and friends are also invited to visiting hours the hour prior to her service from 10-11am. Burial will be in the Pleasant St. Cemetery in Raynham.
