Obituary

Lee J. Joyal, 90, formerly of Windham, Alton, and Bedford, NH died October 5, 2005 at Parkland Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Warwick, RI on May 11, 1915 the son of Alfred and Edith (Straight) Joyal.

He was the first Director of Recreation for the city of Warwick. From 1938 to 1946, he was a member of the Rhode Island State Police. In 1953, he started Lee J. Joyal Co. of Lyman, SC that specialized in textile equipment and supplies. In 1970 he formed Joyal Industries in Coventry, RI, which manufactured infra-red heating equipment. In 1972 he started Swiss Screen Corp. in Lyman, SC.

Mr. Joyal was a 32nd degree Mason at King Solomon's Lodge in East Greenwich, RI and a member of the Winnipesaukee Lodge #75. He was also a member of the Shriners in Clearwater, FL. He served as president of Woodland Waters Association for many years and president of United Associations of Alton for 5 years.

In His Life: He was a self-made business man, entrepreneur, world traveler, boater, fisherman and hunter. He gave wise counsel whether personal or business. Lee was best described as always jovial, always concerned, always positive and always able. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
Family members include his daughter, Susan Riddle, of Derry, his son Jeffrey Joyal, of Greenville, SC; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Morgan, Rebecca Robinson, Katie Joyal, Jesse Joyal and Courtney Peake and 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley (Ferguson) Joyal.

A memorial service was held at the convenience of the family.
