New Bedford - Helen Duchov, age 89 of New Bedford, passed away on September 6, 2017. The youngest daughter of Henry and Katarzyna Wrona, she was the last of her late siblings: Casimir Vrona, Stanislaw Wrona, Balvina Power and Adela Richard. She also had survived her late husband, Eric Duchov.
Helen loved being with family and friends, but also enjoyed reading and quiet contemplation. She was a lifelong resident of New Bedford and enjoyed music, the arts, nature, playing accordion, piano and organ as well as oil painting. She worked as a Folder at Grinnel Pajama Co. until her retirement. In her later years, she volunteered time and assistance to organizing exhibits for artists of the Bierstadt Art Society.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Arruda and son-in-law Charles Arruda; nieces, Lin LaPierre and Dorothy Powers; nephews, Steve Vrona and Dr. Douglas Vrona as well as their children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Duchov's visiting hours will be held Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral services which will be held at the funeral home on Friday, beginning at 9:30 A.M. with a service to begin at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
