Prescott H. “Bill” Torrey, Jr., 85 of Pittsfield, NH died Wednesday October 5, 2005 in the Concord Hospital, Concord, NH. Mr. Torrey was born in Derry, NH on April 8, 1920 a son of the late Prescott H. and Dorothy L. (Boyden) Torrey Sr. He had resided in Pittsfield for the past six years, formerly living in Londonderry, NH for most of his life. He was a 1937 graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Derry. He was a US Army veteran of WWII. He had been employed for Merrimack Farmers and Wells Oil both of Derry. He was a past member of the Londonderry Grange #44 and served as Past Master and held several other offices over his many years of Grange membership. He was also a member of the Epsom Bible Church in Epsom, NH.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Audrey (Kingsbury) Torrey of Pittsfield, one son, Robert Torrey of Drum, PA, one daughter, Deborah Patterson and her husband Tim of Pittsfield, two grandsons, Chad and Scott Patterson both of Pittsfield, two sisters, Ruth Wells of Meredith, NH, Barbara Stone of W. Kennebunk, ME, also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Saturday October 8th at 1:30pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Burial followed in Glenwood Cemetery, Londonderry. Calling hours were on Friday from 6 – 8pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Epsom Bible Church, c/o the building fund, P.O. Box 149, Epsom, NH 03234.
