Obituary

Ronald J. Corr, 70, died Saturday, September 2, 2017 after battling a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Diane (Bell) Corr.

Born and raised in Brighton he was the son of Joseph and Alice (Deagle) Corr. He had been a long time resident of Hanson where he and his wife settled to raise four children. Ronnie had attended school in Brighton until joining the U.S. Army for three years.

Following his service, Ronnie Became an MBTA Police Officer. While on the police force he became a K9 officer where he and his beloved service dog, Satan, won top novice dog in the region. Ronnie was also the recipient of the Valor Award for his bravery while in pursuit of an armed assailant. In addition, he spent time as an undercover police officer for the MBTA. He worked for over 30 years prior to retiring.

Ronnie was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching all types of sports, as well as participating as a coach for his children’s soccer and hockey teams. However, what he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren grow up.

In addition to his wife Diane, he is survived by his loving children Joseph Corr and his wife Christina Centrella of Plymouth, his daughter Jennifer Corr of Whitman, and his son-in-law Brian Slayter of Hanson. He is also survived by his grandchildren Amanda Corr of East Bridgewater, Jessica and Stephen Corr II of Rockland, Sarah and Jack Slayter of Hanson, Joey, Domenic and Lexxi Corr of Plymouth and Branden Tyler of West Bridgewater. He was the father of the late Stacey Corr-Slayter and Stephen Corr.

His services will be held Saturday September 9 at 10 a.m. from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph the Worker Church, Hanson. Burial will follow in the Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson. Visiting hours will be held Friday, September 8, from 5-8 p.m.
