Obituary

Dudley - Mark E. Devlin, 71, died Friday, August 25, 2017 in William Backus Hospital, Norwich after an illness. His wife of 35 years, Jane A. (Heins), died in 2011.

He leaves his companion, Irene L. (Michaud) Yonta of Woodstock, CT; a sister-in-law, Elaine Babcock and her husband Douglas of Webster; a brother-in-law, Arthur Heins of Webster; 2 nieces, Ann Peters and Lynn Brothers; a great-niece, Abigail Peters; and a great-nephew, Samuel Peters.

He was born in Worcester, the son of Edward J. and Eleanor V. (Paranto) Devlin and lived in Dudley all his life. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1964.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as a staff sergeant.

Mr. Devlin worked at the Dudley Court House for 35 years, retiring in 2009 as the building supervisor. He was a communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Church.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 6, in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 24 Dudley Hill Road (please meet at the church). Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The Webster-Dudley Veterans Council will provide the military honors. Donations in his name may be made to St. Anthony of Padua Church, 22 Dudley Hill Road, Dudley, MA 01571. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster.
