Rosemary (Charpentier) Coates, 69, a longtime resident of Plainville, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by loving family. She was the beloved wife of Michael Coates.
She enjoyed spending time with and cooking for her ever-growing family, which is what she always wanted. She was happiest when her home was full. Rosemary was also a talented artist who excelled at drawing and painting. She lent her creativity, organizational skills and enthusiasm to local community organizations, including: St. Martha’s Women’s Club, the Plainville Lions Club, the Plainville Centennial Committee, and the Plainville Historical Society.
Born in Woonsocket, RI on February 6, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Averi) Lucchesi and Ovias Charpentier.
In addition to her husband of nearly 50 years, Rosemary is survived by her five children: Alfred Conant of Holbrook, MA, Jennifer (Leslie) Howarth of Jacksonville, AR, Jonathan (Andrea) Coates of Middleboro, MA, Jessica (Richard) Caron of West Haven, CT, and Jillian (Andrew) Hill of Houston, TX.
She is also survived by six grandchildren: Erick and Joel Coates of Middleboro, MA, Rebecca Kimball of Farmington, ME, Alexander Kimball of Presque Isle, ME, and Kent and Margaret Hill of Houston, TX.
She was preceded in death by her son, Shawn Coates.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Friday, September 8 at 9:30 am from the Ginley Funeral Home,(www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main St., Franklin, followed by a funeral mass to celebrate Rosemary’s life at St. Martha Church, 227 South St., Plainville at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will follow at Plainville Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
