Gloria M. Furey
Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
TEWKSBURY: Gloria M. (Boni) Furey, age 84, a resident of Tewksbury for 52 years, passed away in the loving
care of her family and Merrimack Valley Hospice on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.
She was the beloved wife of John T. “Tom” Furey, with whom she celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary
on April 24, 2017.
Born in Somerville on October 19, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Arrigo and Mary (Zanoni) Boni.
Gloria was raised in Somerville, and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School.
In 1965, she and her husband moved to Tewksbury, where they raised their three children.
Gloria was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. In later years, she worked for the former
Purity Supreme and Heartland Supermarkets in Tewksbury.
Gloria’s greatest love was spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Gloria was the devoted mother of Gail M. Johnson and her husband William P.
Johnson of North Andover, and John R. “Bob” Furey of Greenville, NC; four grandchildren, Nicole M. and
Meagan E. Johnson, Sean P. Furey and his wife Matthan Chatterton-Richmond, and Ryan T. Furey and his wife
Anh-Chi, and her great-grandchild, Matthan T. Furey, all of California, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Gloria was also the mother of the late Fay K. Furey, and grandmother of the late Kelly C. Johnson. Gloria was
the sister of the late Alzira Re, Enes Boni, Louise Armstrong, and Frank Boni.
Family and friends are invited to meet on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main
Street, Rte. 38, Tewksbury for her Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover.
