Obituary

Paul V. Sanders, 56, formerly of Worcester, died on Friday, September 1, 2017 in UMass Memorial Medical Center, due to complications of a bone marrow transplant procedure. He is survived by his brothers, George W. Sanders of Auburn, James R. Sanders of Park Forest, Ill, Thomas E. Sanders of West Chazy, NY, Reverend William F. Sanders of Webster; sisters, Ann Marie Holland of Shrewsbury, Mary Jane Howard of Worcester, Julie A. Welsh of Spencer and Rosemary Bengtson of Rutland; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He was born in Worcester a son of the late William and Julia (Vilkas) Sanders.
Mr. Sanders attended St. Stephen Grammar School and graduated from Holy Name Central Catholic High School where he played basketball. He worked as a CRT operator for Newton Buying Corporation in Worcester for over thirty years. He remained in the family home to care for his parents until their passing. Paul was an avid Cleveland Indians and Holy Name sports fan. He was a dedicated member of St. Stephen Church.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Stephen Church, 357 Grafton Street. His brother, Reverend William F. Sanders will be the principal celebrant. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Name Athletic Fund, 144 Granite St., Worcester, MA 01604 or St. Stephen Church, c/o 16 Hamilton St., Worcester, Ma 01604.
