Obituary

David H. McMullen, 69, of New Bedford died Tuesday August 8, 2017. He was the husband of the late Sandra (Duarte) McMullen.
Born in Acushnet, the son of the late Walter and Mary E. (Kimball) McMullen, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. McMullen was formerly employed by the City of New Bedford Department of Public Infrastructure Water Division until his retirement.
During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was award the Purple Heart medal. He was a member of the Andrews-Dahill Post 1531, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary E. Pacheco of New Bedford; his brother, William McMullen of New Bedford; three grandchildren, Amber Schaffer, Tina Pacheco, and Brittany McMillan; four great-grandchildren, Dahlia, Aria, Carter, and Zelda; and nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Gary McMullen, Kathleen St. Don, Walter McMullen, Jr., Mildred Barboza, George McMullen, and Jack Kimball.
A committal service with military honors will be held on Friday September 8, 2017 at 12 Noon at Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
