PARSONSFIELD - Philip E. Lovejoy, 83, of Parsonsfield, died peacefully at his home with family by his side on August 31, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Lewiston on July 27, 1934 a son of Leon and Dorothy Green Lovejoy and grew up in North Waterford.  He attended Waterford schools and graduated from Gould Academy in Bethel, Class of 1952.  Gould Academy and his classmates always held a special place in his heart.  He attended S.M.V.T.I. and then proudly served four years in the U.S. Air Force, honorably discharged in 1957 as a Staff Sergeant.
Philip became a licensed insurance agent.  He worked with Boston Mutual Life Ins. Co., then became a partner in the Frost Agency in Norway.  He moved his family to Fryeburg in 1965, where he had purchased the McDonald Agency.  In 1970 he merged his agency with the Pike Insurance Agency, owned by Aso O. Pike III and Asa O. Pike IV.  They expanded to New Hampshire purchasing the Dahl Agency and then combining it with the Conway Insurance Agency.   In 1985, he left the group and formed The Lovejoy Agency with offices in Parsonsfield, Limerick and Standish, retiring in 2007.
Phil was a member and Past Master of Pythagorean Masonic Lodge # 11 in Fryeburg and just received his 50 year pin.  He enjoyed hunting with his family and friends in Maine and Pennsylvania and was an avid Red Sox fan.  He loved spending winters at his home in Englewood, Florida as well as going to the casinos.  Above all he loved spending time with family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Laura (Day) Lovejoy of Parsonsfield.  His children, Debra Lovejoy and Fiancee Jerry Ledin of Harrison, Karen Callaghan of Porter, Scott Lovejoy and wife Lisa of Fryeburg, and Wendy Davidson and husband Eddie of Fryeburg.  Stepdaughter, Melissa Zulick of Englewood, FL., as well as many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
