Franziska (Schmid) Rose, 87, of Dartmouth died Wednesday August 30, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Leonard F. Rose.
Born in Gablinger, Germany, the daughter of the late Andreas and Martina (Ashenmeier) Schmid, she moved to the United States in 1952 where she lived in Dartmouth for many years.
Mrs. Rose was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
She enjoyed cooking, knitting, and watching sports.
Survivors include two children, LuAnn Mendoza of New Bedford and Leonard F. Rose, Jr. and his fiancée, Aurora Resendes of Taunton; her sister, Gerta of Germany; her grandson, Brian Rose and his wife Tara; four great-grandchildren, Ben, Tucker, Gracie, and Kallie; and her dear friend, Rochelle Dextraze.
She was the mother-in-law of the late Walter Mendoza.
Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday Sept. 5, 2017 at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth at 10 AM. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday Sept. 4, 2017 from 4-7 PM. Flowers are acceptable or remembrances may be made to the charity of one's choice.
