Obituary

George lopes, age 69 of Haverhill, Somerville and formerly of Taunton, passed away on August 30, 2017.

George was born in Taunton, the son of Eileen (Medeiros) Robitaille and the late George Lopes.

Before retirement, George was employed with the Grand Lodge of Masons in Boston as a property manager. George proudly served his country with the U.S Airforce during the Vietnam War. George had a deep love and affection for his family and friends….and he adored his Golden Retriever Max. Amongst his many passions and interests, he most enjoyed music from the likes of Neil Young, James Taylor, ELO. His annual trips to Cape Cod in the summer and Christmas shopping at L.L. Bean in Freeport Maine are legendary. He loved to kayak, collecting antiques and going to flea markets.

Everyone who ever met and knew George quickly realized he was an incredible, loving and caring human being…he was special in a way that defies explanation and touched the hearts of anyone he met.

Besides his loving mother Eileen, George is survived by his sister Patricia Reynolds and nephews Peter Morse, Shawn Faria and their wonderful families. His extended family includes, aunt Eva Arruda, cousins Paula, Bonnie, Jackie, niece and nephew Tanya and Curtis and longtime friends Raymond Scuzzarella, Tom Curran and Bob Cananzey.

His funeral will be held on Monday, September 4, 2017 at 8:45 am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Andrew the Apostle Church Kilmer Ave, Taunton.

His burial will be privately held at a later date.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, September 3rd from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the Silva Funeral Home.

Additional parking with handicap access is located on the north side of the funeral home.
