Joseph J. Varaksa, Jessup, his friends called him "PJ," passed away surrounded by his loving family at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pa. He is survived by his wife, Debra Ann (Debbie) Jenkins. Born in Bridgeport, Conn., son of the late Alexander and Helen Suwalski Varaksa, he was educated in the Bridgeport schools and was employed before retirement with Cinram Manufacturing, Olyphant. He was a member of Queen of Angels Parish, Jessup, Pa. He was an Army veteran. He was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved Shania Twain and Elvis and his dog, Mocha. He was always ready with a clever quip and comeback.
Also surviving are a daughter, Tammy Varaksa, Michigan; three sons, Joseph Varaksa Jr., Michigan; Anthony Varaksa, Mississippi; Jason Varaksa, at home; five grandchildren; a sister, Susan Wezowicz, Connecticut. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Luke Varaksa; brother, Alex Varaksa Jr.; and two sisters.
A blessing service will be conducted Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc., 129 Grant St., Olyphant, Pa. Interment, St. Mary's Assumption Cemetery, Montdale, Pa.
