Peter E. Taylor, 81, of South Attleboro died Thursday August 24, 2017 at Hope Hospice and Palliative Care Philip Hulitar Center in Providence. He was the loving husband and constant companion of Doris A. (Lachapelle) Taylor. They were married on May 19, 1962 and shared over 55 wonderful years together.
Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late Everett M. and Rose B. (Emery) Taylor. He was raised in Central Falls and Pawtucket and resided in South Attleboro for over 50 years.
Peter was employed by Balfour Corp. for over 35 years before retiring.
He was a member of the Jenks Masonic Lodge in Pawtucket for over 50 years. Pete was an avid figure skater, skilled woodworker, talented painter, and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. Peter truly had a green thumb as every summer he would share the bounty of his garden, especially tomatoes, with friends and neighbors.
Pete will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather, a quiet, easy going and friendly person and a true gentleman.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Michael Taylor and his wife Carolyn of Warwick, two daughters Lisa Pearson and her husband Craig of Mapleville and Sandra “Sandy” Cartier and her husband Charles “Chuck” of Lakeville, MA. He was the brother of the late Everett W. “Bill” Taylor and Nancy A. Hulatt of Johnston. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren Dennis Hobert, Benjamin Taylor, Christopher Cartier, Alex and Sarah Pearson and many nieces and nephews and their families.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday September 2nd at Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. Visiting hours are from 9:00-10:30 am prior to services. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, Manville. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to American Renal Association Pawtucket Dialysis Center 201 Armistice Blvd. Pawtucket, RI. 02860.
