Margaret C. (West) Sullivan “Peg” McGill, 91, of Groton Long Point, died Tuesday at Mary Elizabeth Nursing Center where she had been a resident for the past 8 years.
Mrs. McGill was born in Stonington on December 7, 1913 the daughter of Jabez F. West Jr. and Elizabeth (Murray) West. She was a 1931 graduate of NFA and later became a Registered Nurse.
She enjoyed a long nursing career in the operating room of Backus Hospital prior to her retirement in 1978. A member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Groton, she was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing bridge.
Mrs. McGill is survived by a nephew, Stewart Mosher of Mystic, two nieces, Jane Norman of Oakdale and Phyllis Eldridge of Groton Long Point, several grandnieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles E. Sullivan and her siblings, Jabez F. West Jr. and Jane Graham West.
A Graveside Committal Service will be conducted at Maplewood Cemetery, Norwich on Monday at 1pm. The Rev. Mark Porizky, Pastor of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, will officate. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
