Obituary

Colvin Junior Bearden, 81, loving husband of 40 years to the late Ruth Elizabeth Bearden, entered into rest on Friday, August 25, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Platt’s Belair Rd. Chapel with Rev. Dusty Wammack officiating. Immediately following, a small lunch will be provided in the Platt’s Reception Room. Entombment services will be held at 1:30 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Colvin was born in Boaz, AL but was a resident of the Augusta area for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marines. Colvin served two tours during the Vietnam War, where he received the Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Colvin retired from E-Z-GO Textron after 30 years of service. He received numerous awards during his career at E-Z-GO including the Safe Driver Award and the Valued Employee Award. Colvin overcame many obstacles that he experienced early in life. Experiences that shaped the husband, father, and grandfather he became.

Survivors include five daughters; Marcella Wemmer, Dottie Heiligman (Rodney), Sharon Norris (Kris), Debbie Prince, Gail Anthony, four sons; Alan Anthony (Brenda), Gary Anthony (Kathy), Randy Anthony, Johnnie Anthony, sister; Betty Crosley (Tommy), 23 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
