Walter L. Fournier, 92, of Berlin, NH passed away on August 27, 2017 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin, NH. He was born in Berlin, NH on July 27, 1925 the son of the late Frank and Laura (Bouchard) Fournier and was a lifelong resident. Walter was a graduate of Berlin High School and the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was employed by Brown Company and James River Corporation for many years. Walter was a US Army Air Force Veteran of World War II. He played high school hockey, college hockey and for the Berlin Maroons. He was very proud of the fact that he had been inducted into the NH Hockey Hall of Fame. Other enjoyments included riding and showing horses, playing tennis, golfing, cross country skiing and snowboarding.
Members of his family include his wife Phyllis (Johnson) Fournier of Berlin; two sons Richard Fournier of Ohio and Steven Fournier and his wife Susan of Berlin; a daughter Loreen Evans and her husband Jim of Sterling, CT; five grandchildren Nannette Pelletier, B. Dannielle Fournier, Dr. Loreen Pirnie, Erin Fournier and Philip Fournier; five great grandchildren; a sister Dora Fournier of Berlin.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held on Thursday August 31, 2017 at 10 AM in the Chapel of the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin, NH. Interment will follow in the Russian City Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Anyone who wishes may make a donation in his memory to a charity of one’s choice.
