Obituary

BERTHA “GINNY” GOSS, 89, passed away on August 27, 2017. Ginny left this earth to join her Heavenly Father and to be with the love of her life, her husband, Raymond Goss, and her son, Stephen Goss. She went to bed every night with her rosary in her hand and watching Reba.

Ginny retired from a long career at the Louisville Textile on Goss Avenue.

She and Ray were fortunate for the many years they were able to enjoy their camp at Cumberland Lake. The loved fishing, walking in the woods and sitting on the deck at night having a few high balls.

Ginny spent endless hours working in her beautiful flower gardens, cutting her grass and making sure there were no weeds in her pristine yard. She loved all the holidays and made them very special for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her home was always decorated and welcoming for every occasion. She insisted every holiday was her favorite whenever it rolled around.

Even though she had slowed down the last couple of years, she still loved the Derby Parties, wearing her Derby hat, Mother’s Day, cookouts, walking at the gym, St. Paul’s Hen Party and playing poker with her life-long friend Mary.

Proceeding her in death beside her husband and son, were her parents, three brothers and one sister.

Survivors include two daughters, Annie Mattingly (Bob) and Cynthia Smith (Danny); daughter-in-law, Sue Goss; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and her brother, Jim Seadler.

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 3 -5 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway. Cremation was chosen.
