James Glendal "Glenn" Whitley, Sr., 83, of Tifton passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017, at Magnolia Manor in Moultrie. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Whitley at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Joseph L. Crumley will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday, August 28, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born August 21, 1934 in Ocilla, Mr. Whitley was the son of the late Bates Whitley and Mary Stephens Whitley. He retired from Reinhardt and Whitley Law Firm, where he was a partner and had practiced law for 50 years. He obtained his law degree from the University of Georgia. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War. He loved golf and was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge. He also served as a council member of Irwin E. M. C.
Mr. Whitley is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jamey and Nicole Whitley of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Gary Royal of Cumming and Debbie and Don Weiss of Clearwater, Florida; one brother, Buck Whitley of Fitzgerald; five grandchildren, Marisa Castaneda, Andrea Khadka and husband Rohit, Turner Whitley, Maci Royal and Marley Whitley; and two great-grandchildren, Lukas Hare and Adeline Khadka.
