George F. Costello Jr., 87, of Attleboro, formerly of Canton and East Falmouth passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. George was born in Boston to the late George and Helen Costello. He was married for over 60 years to his beloved wife Patricia T. Costello (McLaughlin). He was the loving father of Diane M. DiGiantommaso and her husband Tony of North Attleboro, Judy Nelson of North Attleboro, George F. Costello III of Attleboro, Gerard P. Costello and his wife Nancy of Ballston Lake, NY, Stephen P. Costello and his wife Jennifer of North Attleboro, and the late Patricia A. Papagno. He was the loving brother of Marion Pickering of Raynham and Richard Costello of Brockton, and the late Lorraine Gately, Helen Ryan, and Robert Costello. George is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Early in his life he was an avid pilot. George spent summers in Duxbury for over 30 years and loved the ocean and boating. In retirement, he loved life on Cape Cod with his wife, Pat – spending time at the beach and on walks. He also enjoyed the company of his two pugs, Andy and Skeeter. What he cherished most was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a proud veteran that served as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy. He had a long career, over 30 years, with New England Telephone and then AT&T where he retired as an engineer. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2259 for many years. Visiting hours will be in the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman St., Canton on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from 4-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 700 Washington St., Canton at 10:30 A.M. Burial services will immediately follow in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
