Alice Louise (Davey) Young, 81, of Blackstone, formerly of Franklin, died August 23 in Genesis Healthcare Milford Center.
Born in Framingham, October 8,1935, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Alice L. (Sanders) Davey, Mrs. Young was raised in Norfolk and had lived in Wrentham before moving to Franklin where she lived for over 30 years prior to moving to Blackstone 15 years ago.
She was a graduate of Walpole High School and received her License Practical Degree from Wrentham Development Center, where she was at the top of her graduating class, all the while raising her four children by herself. Alice worked at the Wrentham Development Center for many years before retiring.
She had been an active member of the Franklin Federated Church and was a member of the Warm Puppies Club at the Church.
She had been active in the Lady Rebekah’s of Wrentham.
Alice enjoyed knitting, gardening, especially tomatoes and then canning them.
She is survived by her children, Debra Collins of Blackstone, Sandy Cummings of Wrentham and Michael Young of Blackstone.
She was the mother of the late Mark “Marty” Young.
She was also the sister of the late Charles and Richard Davey.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Neil, Chrissy, Cathy, Elizabeth, Joshua and Faith and her great-grandchildren, James, Leah, Katie, Jack and Joseph R.
Alice and her family wishes to thank all those at the Genesis Healthcare and everyone else who cared for her over the last years.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, August 28 in the Franklin Federated Church 171 Main Street, Franklin at 11:00
Burial at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton will be private.
